Kearsney lost to their near neighbours, Gateway B.C., in the 1st round of the National Tony Allcock Trophy last night (15th May). The competition is played by 2 mixed rinks from each club by members over 60. Our rink of Keith Hughes, Pat Thompson, Sheila Swinerd & Dave Hunter went down by 10 shots 13-23 to Gateways rink of Janet Hudson, Christine Bessent, Malcolm Bessent & Dave Hudson. Kearsneys four of Freda Smith, Brenda Law, Muzz Law and John Broom had a close match losing by just 2 shots 17-19 after 20 ends before conceding the match to Gateways Sandra Smith, Sue Scott, Bob Scott & Ken Fox. The overall combined score being Kearsney 30 shots and Gateway 42 shots. Many thanks to all the Kearsney members that came out to support the team, and good luck to Gateway for the rest of the competition.
